As Move One and sister company AES Cargo continues to make inroads in Central Asia, we opened a new office at Kandahar Airbase, Kandahar city, Afghanistan on April 27, 2008. This recent addition brings our total number of Afghanistan offices to six. The Kandahar Airbase is a NATO/ISAF military installation and falls under NATO command, although there is a large U.S. Military presence too.
The focus of the new office will be the offloading of aircraft, delivery of project cargo within the base, and truck loadings on base for project cargo delivery elsewhere in the country. Furthermore, there will be face-to-face meetings on base, project cargo and logistics-type business development. Moreover, we'll ensure positive liaisons with key base personnel and escort services of trucks and people on and off base.
Move One/AES Cargo Kandahar's office is run by Operations Manager Curt Sharp. Curt was formerly AES Business Development manager in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, AES Country Manager in Iraq and previously spent some 20 years with DHL. Since the opening of the Kandahar office, Patrick McDonald has joined Curt Sharp and took the position of Operations Coordinator. As Move One and AES Cargo expand their operations, the number of staff is expected to grow in the near future.
